Jason Cabañes

Dr Jason Cabañes is Lecturer in International Communication at the School of Media and Communication, University of Leeds. One of his two key research interests is on the media’s role in the political and social development of countries in the Global South. In line with this interest, he has led research projects for The World Bank and, more recently, for World Press Photo. His other key research interest is on the media’s role in people’s experiences of migration and multiculturalism. His works on this topic have been published in journals such as New Media and Society, Media, Culture, and Society, Visual Studies (forthcoming 2016), and Southeast Asia Research.
