Dr Mel Bunce is a Senior Lecturer in Journalism at City, University of London, where she researchers and lectures on the global media system, the ethics of representation and the news coverage of Africa. She is currently working on an AHRC-funded project about humanitarian journalism (with Martin Scott and Kate Wright), and is the director of the Humanitarian News Research Network based at City University. Mel is the co-editor of Africa’s Media Image in the 21st Century (2016; Routledge).
