Sherwin E. Ona is Associate professor of Political Science at De La Salle University where he is a senior researcher of the Jesse Robredo Institute of Governance. He is the lead researcher in the IDRC-funded “Institutionalizing Open Government Data Capacities for the Philippines and Kenya” project. He is also a consultant for the medium-term information technology harmonization initiative (MITHI) of the Department of Science and Technology and the Commission on Higher Education.

He is the co-editor of Information and Communication Technology in the Philippines: Contemporary Perspectives (DLSU Publishing House, 2013). His current research interests are on the areas of Open Government, Green Technologies, Cybersecurity Policies and ICT for Disaster Management in rural communities.
