Jessica Moyer
Geographer and Sociologist
University of Leicester
A geographer and sociologist by training, Jessica engages in immersive ethnographic study as well as macro-social analysis. Her work aims to expose systemic environmental injustice by interrogating the processes of normalization that conceal and perpetuate it. Previous projects have examined ecotourism in Costa Rica, marine conservation in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and oil development on Native-owned land in northeast Alaska. Currently, Jessica is collaborating with colleagues in the UK and the Philippines to explore the potential of contemporary Filipina ‘nature writing’ to highlight marginalized environmental perspectives and mobilize social change.
