Jonathan Corpus Ong is Principal Investigator and Convenor of the Newton Tech4Dev Network. He is Associate Professor in Global Digital Media in the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is author of The Poverty of Television (2015; Anthem Press) and co-editor of Taking the Square: Mediated Dissent and Occupations of Public Space (2016; Rowman & Littlefield). He is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Television & New Media, based in the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2018. His research interests include disasters, development and humanitarian communication; ethnography of social media; creative and digital labor; mediated protest, witnessing and solidarities; and the ethics of communication.
