Josefina Estrella

Josefina Estrella is a Professor at the Department of Speech Communication and Theater Arts at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She is also the current Director of the University of the Philippines Theater Complex. She is interested in the use of theatre in disaster education and communication.
Professor Estrella is also a professional theater director, having directed Western classics in English and/or in Filipino. She was the Artistic Director of Dulaang UP (the resident theater company of UP Diliman) and was the Associate Artistic and Executive Director of Tanghalang Pilipino (the resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines).
Professor Estrella took her undergraduate and Masters degrees in Theater Arts at the University of the Philippines (Diliman) and has an MFA in Directing from Columbia University through a Fulbright scholarship. She was an Asian Cultural Council (ACC) Grantee where she spent six months in New York observing the use of technology in theater.
